What To Expect When In Doubt

What To Expect When In Doubt

Something I try and make a habit of (which I’m not very good at) is; “When in doubt, expect the best.”

Let me give you some background in what I’m meaning.

I naturally begin to assume the worst when I don’t have the facts.

For example, a while ago I had to go to the doctors for some tests.  That part was ok.  What wasn’t ok was the doctor’s office ringing me to say the Dr wants to see me about my result results.  When this happened, I convinced myself I was dying.

Just in case you are wondering, nothing was wrong.  As usual, my mind went straight to the worst possible outcome.  Hence why I say I’m not overly good at this.

I believe God wants us to live in expectation of the best outcome.  Live with the expectation that He is going to do great things in us, through us, and for us.

When Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah found themselves facing a fight with the neighbouring peoples’ (the Ammonites and Moabites), it was their expectation and trust in God for the best outcome that caused them to format the worlds craziest battle plan; singing.

2 CHRONICLES 20:22

22 AT THE VERY MOMENT THEY BEGAN TO SING AND GIVE PRAISE, THE LORD CAUSED THE ARMIES OF AMMON, MOAB, AND MOUNT SEIR TO START FIGHTING AMONG THEMSELVES.

What do we do when we face a difficult situation?
We trust God for the best outcome.  What do we do when life’s circumstances keep throwing us curve balls?  We trust God for the best outcome.
Does this guarantee the outcome we are hoping for?  No.  The bible is filled with stories of people who went through things they were praying wouldn’t happen.
What it does guarantee however, is that regardless the outcome, you will live a life filled with hope.

Why?
Because your hope isn’t founded on an outcome, it’s founded on a person.  And his name is Jesus.
